Project summary:

Within the framework of the project it is planned to construct digesters for biogas generation and CHP-units for biogas utilization at the wastewater treatment system (Bortnichi WWTP).

Proposed solution includes:

1. Joint cleaning of raw sediment: and activated sludge by grids and thickening till 93% of water content.
2. Digestion in 6 digesters
3. Dewatering of digested matter by presses
Use of biogas in IC engines with power generators.

Biogas will be used for electrical and thermal energy production. Heat is used for digester heating and own company needs.
Power is also used for company own needs.

The project has three main goals:

– Reduction of greenhouse gases emission, namely methane emission, into the atmosphere and decrease of global greenhouse effect.
– Improvement of ecological conditions in nearby to wastewater treatment system areas.
– Use of biogas in CHP-units for electricity and heat production (10 MWe of power capacity and 12 MWh of thermal capacity).

Project applicant: Shimizu Corporation, Japan
