Project summary: Experimental wood fired boiler with underfeed retort was developed and investigated. The combustion mechanisms were studied and operation conditions elaborated.

Emission of CO and NOx: 250-300 ppm under excess air factor of 1.4…1.5
Fuel: wood chips, saw dust, chaffed straw, peat

Innovativeness: The retort has extended zone for complete burning of coke-ash rest on grate;

It is possible to combust fuel of low quality (high ash content, up to 45-50% moisture content, irregular fractional composition) and have acceptable emission from the boiler.
