The project is the largest power generation project utilizing renewable energy sources in the Republic of Moldova. The project foresees switch from separate generation of heat and power via utilization of fossil fuels via installation of 8 cogeneration units operating on gas cycle of internal combustion engines.

Project allows to fully cover technological needs of textile enterprise “Tirotex”, while generated electricity is supplied to the integrated electricity grid of Republic of Moldova, substituting more carbon-intensive electricity generated on TPP.

Total estimated GHG emission reduction over 2008-2012 – 400 thousand tonnes of CO2-equivalent.

Technical characteristics of the project:

Installations: 8 cogeneration engines “Deutz” TCG2032V16
Total electrical capacity: 31 MWe
Total thermal capacity: 32 MWth
Electrical efficiency of cogeneration engines: 44 %
Thermal efficiency of cogeneration engines: 49 %
Annual natural gas consumption: 56 mill. m3
Annual electricity production output: 248 GWh
Nominal operating: 8400 h/year
